Elderflower drinks: The verdict

Well I definitely put to much lemon into the cordial which meant I didn't think it tasted as fresh as Elderflower sometimes does, although other people seemed to like it. I also noticed that it went off quite fast even in the fridge.

On the other hand the Elderflower Champagne was a winner. It went off with a Bang!

I made four litres of it which I stored in 2 2litre screw top plastic water bottles. The first I opened and drank, as recommended, around 10 days after bottling. We had it with a picnic and it was Delicious, refreshing and fizzy, perfect for a sunny day in wales. The 2nd bottle I left for longer than suggested, around 20 days, and before I even got to the cap it flew straight off with a bang. Lucky Billy was out of range! It was really good though, here is a picture of Costanza with her cup which has bubbled over. We still didn't know if it was alcoholic so we tested it by drinking the whole 2 litres in one evening. We decided it probably was a little bit, we did get lethargic, but not enough to get squiffy.
